Samaritans Operation Christmas Child Round 2
19 December 2016
We filled another 100 individual boxes with gifts!
Last year here at Monarch Education Furniture and LapCabby we filled 100 individual boxes with gifts for the Samaritans Operation Christmas Child. It’s a great cause where the Samaritans send the boxes filled with gifts onto children who otherwise wouldn’t receive anything this Christmas. We received lovely thank you messages from the parents of some of the children on social media, and we couldn’t resist doing it again this year.
We decided that we would fill 100 boxes again. We put together 50 girls and 50 boys boxes with an equal number for each age range 3-6, 7-10 and 11-15. We really took time and thought into what would be appreciated and loved by each specific group. You can see below some of the great boxes we put together. The included items such as skipping ropes, hair bands, cuddly dog tog, and bracelet making sets for the girls. The boys had such items as a light up helicopter, sunglasses, football and pump and all the boxes included exercise books, pens, pencils, bouncy balls, sweets, along with a toothbrush and some toothpaste.
We were so lucky with the donations we received from customers who donated lots of exercise books with a plethora of colouring pens and pencils. We were also overwhelmed with the cash donations we received from the factory and office staff, which meant we were able to buy in bulk lots of great items that we are sure will bring smiles to the children’s faces come the 25th.
Julie Boulter who heads up the Sales admin team took on the responsibility of all the planning and organisation needed to build the boxes and then source all the items and work out what would fit in the boxes! Many members of the team also stayed late into the evening to help fill and package up all the boxes.
The boxes have now gone off to where they are most needed as were collected by two lovely gents from the Samaritans purse, who also very kindly sent us the below letter.
